In Karelia Court Sends Blogger Who Spoke Out Against Russian Orthodox Church to Psychiatric Hospital

On 12 May Petrozavodsk city court satisfied the request of investigators that Maksim Efimov, author of “Karelia is tired of priests” and chair of the Karelia branch of the Youth Human Rights Group, should be placed in a psychiatric hospital for examination, Olga Rybalova, the lawyer representing Maksim Efimov on behalf of Agora Human Rights Association, has said. The human rights defenders will appeal against the ruling as unlawful and groundless. [Read more]
