On 13 July 2011 Moscow’s Savelovsky district court is to hear the lawsuit brought by Vasily Yakemenko against well-known art collector and gallery owner Marat Gelman and Gazeta.ru.

The head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs is suing Marat Gelman on the grounds that the gallery owner in a publication in Gazeta.ru suggested that Vasily Yakemenko could be implicated in the attack on Kommersant journalist Oleg Kashin. Agora’s legal analyst Damir Gainutdinov is representing Marat Gelman and spoke to Open Information Agency at the court hearing.

On 21 June Moscow’s Khamovniky district court dismissed a similar lawsuit brought by Vasily Yakemenko against Oleg Kashin himself, the journalist Aleksandr Morozov, and the newspaper Novye izvestiya.
